Absolutely Wonderful Area

Moving to Rowlett 30 years ago was the best move I ever made. It is clean and the neighborhoods are quiet. First and foremost, the city makes a good effort to enforce the city codes that keep the city at optimum standards so the citizens are not living in run down conditions.
Rowlett is close to everything, including the DART rail that can take residents anywhere in the Dallas metropolis, including DFW. The freeway and toll road give easy driving access to Downtown Dallas and all other area suburbs. Almost any kind of shopping is only a short drive away.
Plus the lake and activities, and area parks are only minutes away. New growth and competent city officials insure that the city stays current and viable and safe. If I didn't already live here, I would wish I did.

Avoid living in rowlett especially if you are disabled

Rowlett as a whole is a horrible place to live especially if you are disabled and rely on a service dog to be independant. The community is NOT disabled or service dog friendly at all i have been asked by patrons (not staff) to leave the community center bc they dont "feel comfortable around dogs" i have been yelled at at the community library by patrons because they didnt tell me my dogs chewing (we were there a long time working on work so i gave my dog hos favorite chew) and thr man swore it xaus eed d him to fail some test yet no one at all approched me to ask me to have my dog stop chewing. Both of this instances happened in community building where staff either saw it happened or saw me after the fact having a complete meltdown. Out and about people dont care about patrons walking if they are in a car its a fair came of bumper carts if you arent watching out even if you are fallowing the rules and obeying traffic signals. There is trash everywhere the citizens of rowlett dont care about the environment throw trash out their cars while driving daily. The lake looks aweful they never cut down the dead trees in the lake (it empties every decade on average due to droughts) they dont clean up the trash around the lake either super nasty. People dump their over grown exotic pets (snakes and gators) into the lake and the police are extremely ignorsnt about disabled people i once was told by an officer that came to me bc i was having a horrible meltdown in public and during the interaction told me i couldnt possibly be autistic (i am diagnosed) because i know how to edit music and was mostly up todate on current music then drove me to a mental hospital to commit me for psycotic behavoir. Basically they think autistic = retarted and who knows what other ill concieved notions they have about other illnesses. I am currently looking for areas to live that more disabled friendly its not right i cant go out and feel safe in my own community and cant depend on the police either in emergencies.

Rowlett is the place to be!

This city is on the brinks of a great future. With being centrally located in DFW, and on the lake, a commercial development boom is about to occur in this great city. Bayside, a $1 billion property, is currently being constructed. Rowlett will be home to the first crystal lagoon in the State of Texas which will span nearly eight acres including two acres of beach frontage. There is also a planned one acre show fountain which is 300' long with 250 water nozzles and two video mist screens. Located in the development will be a trolley system, marina, shows and concerts, convention center, luxury hotel resort, two condo towers, and luxury apartments. This development would be called "Bayside". Bayside is located in the southernmost portion in the City of Rowlett surrounded by Lake Ray Hubbard. The property, once known as "Elgin B. Robertson Park" was acquired from the City of Dallas in late 2015 when the City of Rowlett and Donahue Development began planning this luxury resort known as "Bayside". Construction on this project is in progress and is expected to be completed in 2023. What once was a bedroom community, is now a community set for success in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Also in Rowlett, there is a variety of housing options for either families, couples, singles, or seniors. For transportation in Rowlett, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is located in Downtown Rowlett. Also main roadways are Interstate 30, President George Bush Turnpike, as well as State Highway 66 (Lakeview Pkwy). Rowlett is the place to be!

Re consider a move to Rowlett!

Before you move to Rowlett, review how many eminent domain cases, they have pursued. They will take your property , and think nothign about it. They took TWO from us. One was a business office, and the other was a piece of land they didn't need. Their city taxes are high, and they are not concerned about the citizens. They will have a good talk, but the city government is run by the Good Old Boy system, and they dole out as they see fit, not as is fair. They harass the businesses- we personally know of SEVEN businesses that moved over a two year period, due to the City's harassment over their bricks signs, where their trash cans were placed, over their parking stripes. We were told to have a concrete pad poured, to put our business trash cans in a certain place. We paid for that, and got all permits, and did it. The DAY AFTER the work was completed, Boots Stewart , who worked for the city came by and said, he didn't like the angle, and tear it up and repour at our own expense. This is the way it operates there. Don't move there.

Rowlett, Texas Cares

I lived in Rowlett, Texas in the year of 2011. I moved in 2012. Rowlett is a small suburb near Dallas. It is a very peaceful, and pleasant place to reside. There is not much to do, but at the same time, they had everything you need. The people in Rowlett are more friendly than any where else I have lived. It is an ideal place for a family.

My favorite place to go, along with all the other football fans, is Nick's Sports Bar down on route 66. I really enjoyed going there and kicking back with friends during Saturday night football. If you are the type of person that needs more shopping and food, there are cities in close distance to drive to. Down town Dallas was my favorite place to go. There you have all the shopping centers and places to eat you could imagine. They have almost every kind of food, from Thai and Chinese, to Mexican and Italian.

I personally lived in a small, affordable apartment. It estimated about a thousand dollars a month for all bills, including rent. I am a dog person, I own two large dogs, mostly all places in Rowlett are pet friendly. The houses in Rowlett, Texas are absolutely gorgeous. They are not the cheapest of homes, but they aren't the most expensive either. Rowlett, Texas also has a low crime rate, so, no need to worry about danger. Overall if you are looking for a friendly, clean place to live, and raise a family, Rowlett, Texas is the place for you.
