Round Rock is a decent area for families and veterans, but I will admit they are picky when it comes to government jobs like City of Round Rock or Williamson County because I've applied for YEARS, and constantly received rejection emails every time! It's just like ole racist Wil ...Read More
co aka Williamson County, they only hire their KIN unless they heard about you thru the grapevine. As a veteran myself, I feel like this area is warm, welcoming, friendly, all of the above. It's just the job market really sucks unless you are in the IT or Engineering Field of Work and go somewhere like Dell, IBM, or whatever. Nightlife is mediocre, their little downtown square (Main Street) is filled with dirty bars and some promising restaurants that I still wouldn't bother to eat in because of the atmosphere and weird vibes I get. Crime is on the rise in some areas cuz of the nice suburbs with the rich people buying up all the property and kicking out the poor folks as usual. Shopping centers are amazing though, the Round Rock Outlets is personally one of my favorites to look around since it's like their only mall LOL.

Round Rock, TX
Round Rock was once just a quiet, easy-going suburb of Austin, but that has all changed in recent years. This affluent medium-sized city of just over 100,000 is known worldwide as one of the major tech centers in the world. It was once primarily a bedroom community because of its proximity to the bustling city of Austin. Being only 20 miles from downtown Austin is still a plus for Round Rock. That is just close enough to enjoy the many amenities of a large city, while living in a much smaller city some residents consider to be a suburban utopia.
In 1996, Dell Corporation decided it needed more space and chose Round Rock as the new home for its corporate headquarters. This computer and technology giant has had an enormous impact on the economic growth in this city that also is home to several other industries such advanced manufacturing companies and computer software development businesses. The employment outlook has never been better in Round Rock. Dell alone employs approximately 16,000 workers. As might be expected in a city that primarily employs high tech professionals, the real estate market is booming. The median home prices are about 45 percent higher than the Texas average, but the appreciation value is higher than other parts of the state. The low crime rate and increased feeling of safety for residents balance the high living costs out.
There are a lot reasons to choose to move to this rapidly growing community. The high tech environment appeals to a diverse population including 20 percent who speak Spanish. With the median age of residents being about 33, young singles and families with children account for most of population. Scott & White Healthcare in Temple operates a satellite hospital in Round Rock that offers quality medical care for all residents. Their top priority is keeping the community healthy.
Like most other Texas cities, Round Rock enjoys warm to hot summers and mild winters. It is the perfect climate for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy walking, jogging, golf, and tennis. The Round Rock Independent School District is proud of its exemplary schools and students. Downtown Round Rock offers many interesting things to see and do. Shopping at the Round Rock Premium Outlets draws visitors from across the state. A highlight of the year is July 4 Frontier Days with its many historic exhibitions including the Sam Bass Shootout, which is a reenactment of the capture of the outlaw Sam Bass. There is always something going on in Round Rock that appeals to everyone. Visitors might enjoy the city's own honey facility that sells honey and operates a beekeeping school. Round Rock Honey is well known throughout Texas.
