pretty scenery, people- not so much 1.5 rating By amylou ( Oct 12, 2015) I moved just outside Rockland about a year ago. We had visited here for 25 years plus, each year. Finally built a house and made the move. We were blown away by the experience we've had with the people here and not in a good way! Neighbors here are not shy about coming on your pr ...Read More operty and giving you orders on how its going to be. We had heard about the "people from away" treatment but we can tell you by experience that it is truly awful. possibly if you lived in town things would be better, but here you are truly a second class citizen and people go out of their way to make your life miserable. The locals are happy to take your $, but being nice or friendly is not going to happen. We were told that we are called PFA's (People from away). We are both White retired professionals and formerly from a Northern state! God forbid if we were of color, we can't imagine what that experience would be like for those poor folks. Just a warning for anyone who has dreams of living in Maine-it could become a nightmare. We are ready to move and are thinking of going South. Just a heads up to the next poor people. We spoke to other transplants and they have had the same miserable experience. Read Less
