We have once been invited to dinner at a neighbor's home which we appreciated. Another newcomer recently complained to me that she had no visit from the local church for months although they knew she was living here and would have welcomed visits. People are not politically active although that is fairly common in Utah (below the national average by quite a bit). I have wanted to leave for years, to be honest, but cannot find an affordable home outside the area. I felt, almost from the start, unwelcome though I was not hostile to anyone. There can be malicious gossip and the people can be clannish. There are great people here too so I call it a mixed bag. The city rates were reasonable at first but about doubled in a few years.
