A popular thing to do in Poway is hike up Iron Mountain. It is a moderate five mile hike, but the views at the top are worth it. The trails along the way are dotted with pretty wildflowers, but you should beware of rattlesnakes. Once at the top, you can indulge in the stunning views of the ocean and mountains. There are picnic tables and benches at the top where you can picnic or just relax in the beauty of the place. If you are hiking in the summer, make sure you bring water because it does get hot and dry here at this time of year.

At the Sycamore Canyon Preserve and Goodan Ranch, you can enjoy more than ten miles of biking, hiking and horseback riding.

Poway also features a nine acre public park, named Aubrey Park, where you can enjoy activities like softball, walking and picnicking. Additionally, the city offers a swimming pool and skate park.
