I live in Poway, California, and love it. Poway offers beautiful scenery as well as natural and many fun things to do. One of Poway's biggest attractions is the Old Poway Park. Here, you can see what life was life a century ago in Poway by touring a restored farmhouse, watching b ...Read More
lacksmiths and other artisans doing their work with wood, glass, soap, textiles, painting and more. You can ride a vintage train and shop in old fashioned stores. Additionally, you can visit the Heritage Musem here and see many artifacts from Poway's history such as 1800's clothing, tools, toys, school supplies and more. If you want to visit the Old Poway Park, be sure to inquire beforehand about the calendar. The site is open most Saturdays, but not always.
A popular thing to do in Poway is hike up Iron Mountain. It is a moderate five mile hike, but the views at the top are worth it. The trails along the way are dotted with pretty wildflowers, but you should beware of rattlesnakes. Once at the top, you can indulge in the stunning views of the ocean and mountains. There are picnic tables and benches at the top where you can picnic or just relax in the beauty of the place. If you are hiking in the summer, make sure you bring water because it does get hot and dry here at this time of year.
At the Sycamore Canyon Preserve and Goodan Ranch, you can enjoy more than ten miles of biking, hiking and horseback riding.
Poway also features a nine acre public park, named Aubrey Park, where you can enjoy activities like softball, walking and picnicking. Additionally, the city offers a swimming pool and skate park.
When you get hungry in Poway, you will find a wide variety of dining options. Whether it is family, romantic or international dining, you will find good choices in Poway.
If you want to do some shopping in Poway, there are plenty of favorite retail stores like Walmart and Target as well as department stores like Kohl's and Stein Mart. Additionally, you will find a variety of stores at the Creekside Plaza Shopping Center.
