Resident here for 11 years now. The reviewer who said Pflugerville is a "garbage town near Austin" couldn't be more wrong. The family feel, schools, growth and economy here are fantastic especially towards the growing Eastern side. The Western part of town near I35 is older and m ...Read

ore industrial with slightly lower school ratings. In the East sector around Hwy 130 and 45, there are several large, nice and new suburban housing and mixed use developments going in and school ratings are among the best in the greater Austin area. Tesla is building a gigafactory a short distance South on Hwy 130, Amazon is in the process of building a massive distribution center here, we have 2 large waterparks including the worlds largest indoor water park (Kalahari) minutes away. Shopping and dining is about the norm for a growing suburban area. Its the suburbs so not really much nightlife however there are a fews good breweries and bars near the old downtown sector. The next 10-20 years will see explosive growth here and people are buying homes the same day they go on the market. It's a great place to raise a family, very diverse, feels very safe and we love the community.

Don't even bother wasting your time here, the economy has tremendously decreased here, and the crimes have rose from the dead, literally, no joke... Umm, I would suggest going towards West Austin area, where the air is clean, sunshine is nice and no CRACKHEADS or SHOOTINGS nearby ...Read

I have lived in Pflugerville Texas, all of my 41 years. It is different than other suburban areas. This is because we were founded around the same time as the cities. This means that we did not begin as a result of sprawl. Towns like ours in the area have their own personalities ...Read

and independence because of this. It is kind of unique when compared to other areas around big cities in Texas. Of course, this is the hill country in Texas. This means that football, burgers and barbecues are everything. Much of daily activity is done outdoors. This means that if you are new to the area, it may be a change. It also means that driving is the norm. We are surrounded by other various towns like Round Rock. This means that we always travel back and forth to areas like this.
Guests get used to the driving, but I notice that people from elsewhere are alarmed by the storms here. These storms get huge and are loud, but we learn to adjust accordingly. The roads are eerily empty when weather threatens. In this area, we also stay abreast of the news. This means having it programmed as at least one radio station in the car, mobile alerts and televisions in most every place that people go publicly. The weather is always changing, and this is the most effective defense against it. Pflugerville has managed to stray true to the German, Polish heritage in this area. There are many festivals and restaurants that serve local fare. Kolache restaurants are common like donut shops. These are yeast risen pastries that can have a decadent sweet fruit filling or something savory like German sausage. On weekends in the fall, it is all football all the time, but its great football.
