Making up the area referred to as the Tri-Cities in Washington state, Pasco has had a bad rap over the years. With a diverse culture it incorporates a lot of ethnicity into the community and often these ethnicities begin to battle for position in the various communities.

lived here for only a short time frame, I was shocked and appalled to find that there was such a battle going on. On the surface, it seemed like a nice, quiet little community but underlying that facade was a heated battle brewing.
Full of many opportunities, it is home to a nice college and a beauty college but overall, I did not feel as safe in the community as I would have liked. They put a great empahsis on education which I felt was vital to helping the ethnicities get along somewhat better, but there is a lot of gang activity that goes on and the police seem to have more of a 'shoot first, ask questions later' mentality. I know they are just doing their job but it was somewhat unsettling.
They have some great parks for kids including, but not limited to, both Lucas and Capital park. Great playground facilities abound but I was not comfortable allowing my children to be alone on the streets for a moment. Some communities appear very safe in the beginning and residents discover that there is much underlying tension going on. Pasco is one of those such towns.
Overall it's an okay place to live if you're attending college or have a steady job, but there is a part of the population that has an entitlement mentality and it has really brought the town down over the course of time. I hope they can get a handle on this and band together as a community to bring things up to par soon. It's pretty and has a great location.
