Paragould The Best & the Worst User Rating 3 rating By Anonymous ( Dec 02, 2022) Best aspects: plenty of restarant choices. Gas prices are reasonable compared to some other areas, growing by leaps and bounds. Nice locations to live on the north, south and the western outskirt areas. The country is the safest as far as crime.
Plenty of wildlife to enjoy. Long

A mostly republican, conservative town that stands behind the 2nd amendment. Mostly old school country folk.I have lived here for 30+ years. Decent schools here. Schools have a lot of good activity opportunities for the students. Good counselors, in school special education programs are good as well.
Home and land prices are still very reasonable. This is a great town to start up a business. In fact, there needs to be some family activity businesses come here as there really isn't any thing for anybody to do other than eat or shop. Oh and hunt for relics such as arrowheads in the nearby creeks and mounds.

Bad: with the growth of our town, crime rate has been going up, mostly on the east side of town. Favoritism is high, mosquitoes will eat you up. There is a definate 4 seasons. The winters can dip down to near zero at times but generally stay above 20 on the coldest months being January and February. We have more freezing rain than we do snow.. snows a couple times a year, but mostly very cold and wet winters. April through June are the nicest months being 60s and 70s for the most part. As July nears it begins to get very hot and humid. July through September is usually very hot, humid and muggy with mosquito's eating you up. October it cools off comfortably but mosquitoes are still bad until around November. November is an iffy month. The weather fluctuates a lot.
There are tornadoes, most come up from the south and cuts through east of us though.
We do live on the Madrid fault line. In fact it appears to be a range of beautiful hills but it is very narrow and flats with mostly rice and soybean fields. We feel small earthquakes from time to time. So far nothing major. Did I mention mosquitos? Be sure to lather up consistently to protect yourselves, they always seem to be hungry.

Personally, I enjoy the quiet country life here. All the stars that fill the night sky. Watching the deer bed down in my yard at night, and seeing wildlife as I go on drives such as coyote, wolf, deer, raccoons, fox and more. Sometimes an eagle overhead or a massive flock of geese migrating. Definately is a natural state. I enjoy taking day trips to the Ozarks along the northern area of the state. So, you just take the good with the bad, and generally the good outweighs. ♡ Read Less
