With all the stores and shopping areas in Norwood, you'll be able to find everything you need without going too far. Norwood also has a lot of good restaurants that you can try out. There's a lot of young people in the area too, which makes it easy to socialize. The best area in Norwood is the north part, where there are a few great public parks that you can visit.
You might be able to get by without a car here since public buses cover most of the downtown area, and the train that can bring you up to Boston is close too.
