North Las Vegas, NV - Be Careful! 2.5 rating By Anonymous ( Sep 06, 2012) I have lived in North Las Vegas for about fifteen years. I lived on Pecos and Lake Mead and the one thing I can tell you about this neighborhood is that it can be pretty dangerous. The first few months I lived in the apartments everything seemed to be just fine, but as time progr ...Read More essed I noticed strange activity coming from my next door neighbors house. They were always making deals with other neighbors; whispering and checking over their shoulders for other people listening. I believe they were selling drugs and my suspensions were confirmed when the police came to my door one day and asked me if I had seen anything going on. They were eventually arrested and taken to jail for selling narcotics.

This neighborhood was not all bad seeing as they had a community college campus up the road and a few business down the street. The local police could be very helpful if you ask them for help and most of my neighbors were the same. Eventually though I felt my safety was in danger and decided to move closer to the East side of Las Vegas. While I was living in this neighborhood I noticed that the elementary school up the street had some exceptional students who entered into some great magnet programs. This community is not all bad but can be rough if you are not used to the North Las Vegas lifestyle. I would suggest that if you do move into this neighborhood that you make it a short stay. This is definitely not the place where you would want to raise children. The only thing around for the children to enjoy would be the local elementary school. Hopefully this has helped any persons deciding to move into the North Las Vegas neighborhood make the right choice. Read Less
North Las Vegas, NV - 5 Minutes From the Strip! 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 03, 2010) My family and I traveled to the city of North Las Vegas last April, and we had a vacation of a lifetime. We knew little about the area, so we basically started from scratch using the Internet as a resource to find a place to stay and things to do. North Las Vegas is full of helpf ...Read More ul and friendly people, and the area is quite community oriented considering its closeness to the Strip. By the way, the weather was divine - a typical 75 degree North Las Vegas day.

We decided to stay at The Vegas Chalet Motel, which is located on the Boulevard, just a short drive from the Strip. We were within walking distance to some great restaurants and the Las Vegas Premium Outlets. The Outlets were fabulous, and I found some great clothes for me, my husband and two kids. We had a rental car, but public transportation is easily accessible and everywhere. The hotel was very clean, accommodating and friendly. Our room was spacious with a lovely bathroom and two double beds. A continental breakfast was served in the morning that was free and very satisfying.

Our favorite North Las Vegas restaurant was Famous Dave's On East Craig Road. It was the best, and we all enjoyed mouthwatering barbecued ribs. The staff was fantastic and kept the kids entertained with coloring books and crayons. Our kids also really loved our visit to The Planetarium, which was smaller than I expected, but it certainly kept the kids happy enough to want to go back the next day.

We found a sitter through the hotel one night and had a night on the town! We really enjoyed a show at the Luxor Hotel & Casino featuring Criss Angel, who mystified the entire audience. We also spent some time in the casino after the show and actually won some money. It helped pay for our fantastic North Las Vegas vacation. A vacation that I will surely do again. Read Less
