Newport, KY is Not A Good Area to Live In 3 rating By Anonymous ( May 23, 2018) If you're looking for one of the best areas in Kentucky to move to or even to visit steer clear of Newport. I've lived here for many years now and have seen this area go downhill more and more with each passing year. The crime rate is extremely concerning with no improvement in s ...Read More ight. The entire area has become shabby and run down and looks more like a ghetto than anything. There are some jobs to be had because of our close proximity to Cincinnati and Lexington, but there's nothing decent here in Newport. Our schools are a joke, with about twice as many people dropping out as there are graduating.

I will say that there are some pretty cool things to do around here. We have the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, Newport on the Levee, the Newport Aquarium, the Duke Energy Children's Museum, the Cincinnati Art Museum, and the annual Taste of Cincinnati street fair. There are some really excellent restaurants, bars, pubs, and places for shopping close by also. It's just really sad to say that Newport itself has nothin more to recommend it. Read Less
