Newark, CA City Review

My family moved to the Alameda County in Newark from Carlsbad a few years back. I happened to visit them for a month during my business transition in California. The city, unlike most Californian cities, is beautiful and quaint. Newark along with Fremont and Union City make up the Tri-city area. What I like about the city is its proximity to the San Francisco Bay.

The city's rich history dates back to the era of English and European empire. The name of the city comes from the Newark Castle in Port Glasgow in Scotland. The city was once home to the Ohlone Native Americans too. History buffs will find a lot of museums and regional parks in Newark, California. Some of the popular museums are the Tech Museum of Innovation, Coyote Hills Regional Park and the USS Hornet Museum. As my family love outdoor adventures, we often visit the white water rafting center near the Walnut Creek. My nephew and niece love to spend time at the Ardenwood Historic Farm.

Climate in Newark is hot and humid in summer. Sometimes, the summer temperatures can reach up to 107 during peak hours. Winter is mild in Newark with temperature averaging around early 40s to 70s °F.

Those planning to move here will be happy to find that Newark's economy is very flourishing. The local economy is dominated by small salts mine industries. The Cargill Salt is the largest salt refinery in this area. In the last two decades, a number of manufacturing industries have moved to Newark. Shopping opportunities in Newark is diverse with options like the Newark Mall, which boasts over 140 retail stores. The school districts in Newark are quite popular. The city is served by two high schools and a new Ohlone College. Nearby University of Phoenix and DeVry University cater to the higher education needs of students in Newark.
