Living in New Carrollton exposed me to many different cultures. The area is very diverse and you can meet people from different parts of the world. The city is home to a lot of families but isn't really family oriented. There is however, a nice library and park for children to enjoy. The schools are adequate, but need improvement in some areas. New Carrollton is a good place to live for the convenience it provides. The city is right by Interstate 495 and the Baltimore Washington Parkway as well. Public transportation is very good and local buses run late into the night. There's a Metro and Amtrak train station, as well as a Greyhound bus station. An abundance of apartment communities are located within walking distance of these stations. The city has many shopping centers with grocery stores and specialty stores. One of the main roads in the city is Route 450, which is also known as Annapolis Road. You will see a lot of fast food restaurants along this road and a few well known favorites like Red Lobster. Some of the best areas in New Carrollton are right off of Interstate 495 in a neighborhood of single family homes. Houses in the city are reasonably priced and you can also find inexpensive apartments and condominiums.
