Natchitoches, LA is a beautiful place to live. The town is located in Northern Louisiana close to the Texas boarder and "just down a piece", as the locals would say, from Shreveport. It's surrounded by beautiful oak trees, and the Cane River.

s, especially if you enjoy history. The National Landmark Historic District has all kind of great historical landmarks and beautiful old buildings such as old plantation farm houses with outbuildings and slave cabins, The Minor Basilica, and other amazing French Creole houses. You can tour many of the plantations, cotton fields, and even the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame is located in Downtown Natchitoches, LA. There is plenty forests, bayous, and hiking trails to discover, but don't forget the bug spray! Louisiana's state insect is, jokingly, a mosquito.
The shopping is limited unless you love to go antiquing! The nightlife is minimal as well because of the historic nature of the town. There are several great mom and pop restaurants and cafes all over the place, and some even have historic significance.
Overall, Natchitoches, LA is a beautiful place to live, however, if you're not really big on history, there isn't much to do.
