A Town of Mountains & Activities 5 rating By Anonymous ( May 28, 2018) Mountaintop, is a small town out of Luzerne County with a population of about 11,100 residents. There are convenient bus services; the average one-way commute is about 31.9 minutes. The cost of living is affordable and worth the pay with the quality of the homes in the area. We get beautiful to die for weather here, summers are hot and pleasant. Occasionally we may get scattered showers and thunderstorms; however, they really do not last long. Winters are cold and carry about 35 inches of snow throughout the year.

Mountaintop, Pennsylvania is acquiring ground to the gateway to the Pocono Mountains, a fun recreational area to the north and east with skiing, water sports, indoor or outdoor swimming. There are museums that support industrial heritage, such as the Anthracite Complex and the Steam town National Historic Site, are excellent destinations of working historic preservation and education.
