Deteriorating for lack of community vision 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( Jan 17, 2022) Moscow is still charming, but the past 15 years have seen changes that the community has failed to acknowledge.

First of all, a church with a history of mishandling sexual abuse has been very provocative on the national scale, and is somewhat hostile to "outsiders" as well as to ...Read More the city government. As they obtain more and more exceptions to business zoning ordinances, the very heart of downtown is becoming their own personal campus.

Secondly, the city has entirely ignored the proliferation of single family homes becoming rentals, or worse yet, Air Bnbs. My sympathies to homeowners now surrounded by partiers from the University. Buyers beware!

For people seeking housing, there are currently 8 houses and apartments for rent, whereas there are 93 Air Bnbs available. What effect is this having on our school district, which receives funding per pupil, with all those units and homes reserved for vacationers?

Finally, one particular real estate company- starts with an S- seems to be outrageously inflating prices to their out of town buyers. Median house price has gone from $250k to $700k (see FRED data) largely because of them. This is not an affordable place to live anymore. Read Less

The crime in this area is extremely low and there is much opportunity to have fun and to get errands done in a substantial amount of time. However, the cost of owning a home here can be pretty steep and the poverty level in the are ...Read More a can be pretty high, I've learned to get around quite well and despite the poverty level, crime is sustained.

I'm extremely a stickler for libraries and the experiences I've enjoyed at Idaho's largest library, with my three kids, the University of Idaho Library, are many to cherish. So many casual dining restaurants in the city, including my favorite: Mikey's Greek Gyros on S Main St., which serves the best Gyros in al the free world, the weekends of eating out for the family have been grand. The Hamilton-Lowes Aquatic Center takes the cake. Every hot day of the spring or summer the kids asks me to take them there. So much fun at this water park, we have the pictures to show.

I do have an issue with many areas of poverty, many homeless individuals, but there are always organizations seeking to help these people. The income per capita in the city is below the national average, at $20, 297 per, which is $9,000 below the average in the United States. The best areas in Moscow, ID to live is in the Ft. Russel Neighborhood, St, Mary's neighborhood and even just 8 miles outside of Moscow - Pullman, WA. Read Less
