I lived in Montgomery Village briefly before deciding to move out of state. It was alright for a basic city, but it lacked a lot of amenities that could've made it a much more enjoyable city to live in. It's not too far from a couple major cities, but it was lacking in terms of finding a good job. The rent felt a little too expensive considering there weren't a lot of opportunities when I lived there.
If you're looking for things to do on the weekend, you won't find a whole lot in Montgomery. There's a handful of decent stores and restaurants, but they're spread out over the city. You'll also be much better off with your own car since the buses covered just one part of the city and didn't get within walking distance of the stores. Overall, it's not a bad city if you don't mind having to drive a bit for shopping or relaxing on the weekend.
