Mokena, Illinois is one of Chicago's farther south suburbs located close to the city of Joliet. Mokena is the ideal suburb, with plenty to do for the family and easy access to the city of Chicago via the Metra rail. Mokena boasts itself as a safe community with good police presence that keeps the citizens informed of everything the need to know to stay safe. The public schools of Mokena are excellent, with a low student to teacher ratio that is perfect for giving each student adequate attention.

The city has many parks, paths and trails that promote a healthy lifestyle. Shopping and dining are decent, but the nightlife is nothing too special. This isn't a problem for most residents though being that the city is so close to Joliet which has more options and has a direct rail line to Chicago where the options seem endless.

Overall, Mokena is the ideal place for those looking to raise a family or for anyone looking to settle down that doesn't want to live directly in the city. You don't have the outrageous property taxes of Cook County, but you're close enough to still enjoy what it has to offer.
