A City That Overlooks Big Problems

The City of Mesquite, TX has a big problem with overlooking serious problems involving safety of the roads and drunk drivers.
There has been numerous accidents and property damage at the corner of Motley and Oates. On this corner sits a apartment complex that has seen far too ma ...Read More
ny accidents to count. These accidents have resulted in damages to landscaping, buildings, signs, fences and vehicles. There are no safety prevention barriers along the sides of the streets here.
The accidents are mainly due to this street being a curve that drivers feel they can speed around with no consequences. When it rains it makes a recipe for disaster. Drivers slide, spin and bounce off curbs and over medians. Some fly into the parking lot of the apartments. Even when there has not been rain there are drivers going way over the speed limit and have lost control of their vehicles. Resulting in more damages to property.
Now add in drunk drivers that miss the curve completely and run into the apartment complex resulting in major damages in all of the above mentioned - apartment building hit, vehicles hit resulting in total loss and signs and landscape plowed over and torn up. NOT ONE OF THESE DRUNK DRIVERS WERE ARRESTED! Police responded but no arrests were ever made even though the driver was obviously drunk.
So what actually does warrant the City of Mesquite to do something about this ongoing problem? Does someone need to die? Is it just the police do not want any extra paper work or are they just bad at their job? Does the City of Mesquite just not want the expense of taking safety measures?
The City of Mesquite shows no concern for it's tax payers and no intention of addressing possible life threatening problems. Complete failures!

d cities in Texas to be very bland and almost desert like. My judgmental opinion may have got the best of me since Mesquite is truly a wonderful little city. I was greeted by friendly individuals, nice clean streets lined with green grass and more than enough options for restaurants, bars & shopping.
Friends who live in Mesquite have commented on the excellent school systems and strong community. I can't comment on the schools but the community appears to be very clean and friendly. There are plenty of shopping in Mesquite from a large mall down to novelty shops.
There are plenty of good dining opportunities from larger chains to small and delicious local restaurants. The nightlife was rather bland with mostly small, local bars. I heard talk of some bigger clubs but never came across a single one in Mesquite. I did notice an abundance of "hiring" signs which is definitely a good thing for residents in need of work!
