Melrose is a great small city 4 rating By Anonymous ( Sep 13, 2019) Melrose is a nice small city just outside of Boston. There are a lot of victorians and other nice houses in the area. Melrose has a wonderful downtown with shops, restaurants and a Victorian fair every year. There is a shared Bruegger's Bagels and a Jamba Juice in the same buildi ...Read More ng. Melrose also has very good schools such as Roosevelt and Horace Mann. The country club is very nice with the surrounding neighborhoods being the nicest areas of Melrose. It's a bit expensive but not as much as Lynnfield or Winchester. It's always been nicer than Malden and Medford and even those cities have some very nice neighborhoods. There is some crime but I come here often from neighboring Malden and have never felt unsafe here. Read Less

If you want to incorporate the great outdoors into your Melrose adventure, Middlesex Fells Reservation is the place to be, since you can take in the tranquil scenery and observe some of the wildlife that is native to the area.
