I've been living in Marana for a couple years now and it's a nice little city. It's a little bit north of Tuscon, and a pretty safe place to live in. However, there aren't a lot of options as far as finding a good job goes unless you commute to Tuscon. Also, there really isn't much public transportation in Marana so having your own car or transportation is very important. Real estate is slightly more expensive than the state average, but the tradeoff is that the local salaries are also higher too, so it all balances out.
Summer weather in Marana can get pretty hot, so expect it to break triple-digits frequently. If you don't mind the heat though, there's a fair amount you can do for recreation in the city. One of the best areas in Marana is Stonegate Park where you can get plenty of shade. You might be able to find some festivals or farmers markets in the summer too.
