Not friendly - at least in City Center area of Maple Grove between 101/Bass Lake 1 rating By Anonymous ( Jan 13, 2021) People could not be more rude. Young Families, think their lives are just perfect and scoff at you if you're anything but. Forget having a dog in training, people don't accept that. Rude, stares, comments to themselves, people who just ignore you flat out when you say "hi" or wav ...Read More e and smile. Not to mention the cars that fly through our streets at 40 miles an hour when it is supposed to be a kid friendly neighborhood, and the trash kids that walk up to the grocery store and throw trash along the streets, in people's yards, and smash glass every where every other night of the none-snowy months. Can't stand it. Read Less
Just moved in...Can't wait until the day we move out... 0.5 rating By Anonymous ( Jan 13, 2021) We just purchased a home in far west Maple Grove, an up and coming neighborhood mixed in with a few neighborhoods probably built between 1990 and 2000. We could not be more appalled by how unfriendly people are that walk past our sidewalk RIGHT ON OUR PROPERTY. A wave doesn't ki ...Read More ll you people, or even a half smile. Our immediate neighbor family is wonderful, we've gotten along great with them. Our cul de sac has very friendly families and we all enjoy exchanging a wave, a discussion about what's new or just saying hi. Everyone that passes the back of our home, however, are just plain rude. Gleason park is a park nearby and I cannot tell you how many rude comments have been made loudly amongst each other about our dogs or the looks we have been given and the stares. I don't see what is wrong with what we are doing? We are minding our own business walking our dogs, politely, and keeping to ourselves, and try to be nice and smile and wave, but no one does. It's the snobby folks/families that have to have everything perfect, and it's probably our new rescue dog who is new to environments like ours and the families and folks around us wouldn't be caught dead with a dog that is "in training". How I Learned to Stop Worrying & Love Maple Grove, MN 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 24, 2012) I moved to the Twin Cities when I was 22, and it didn't take me long to realize I'd made a mistake. Oh, they were nice enough - the scenery was gorgeous, and there was always plenty to do - but coming from the Tennessee countryside, they lacked the community that I'd grown up wit ...Read More h, the sense of belonging that came so naturally to small Southern towns.

Moving to Maple Grove changed that. Located in the northwest region of Minneapolis-St. Paul region, Maple Grove is like a small town in a big city. It has everything you could need in terms of food, shopping, and entertainment, but it doesn't swallow you up like most modern metropolises. I moved to Maple Grove and haven't looked back since.

Maple Grove isn't quite as large as its neighbors, but it doesn't lack for commercialization or convenience. You can find anything you need on Main Street, which runs directly through "The Shoppes" at Arbor Lakes. They have cafes, restaurants, bookstores, boutiques, and of course, plenty of coffee shops! If you're like and need your caffeine, make sure to hit Caribou!

As for the neighborhood, most of Maple Grove is a bit older than the national average. It's a suburb with a lot of married couples and children, so if you're looking for a party town, this isn't it. Personally, I consider the demographic a selling point - you don't have to worry about noise or crime, and there's a real sense of community among the residents. There are parades and festivals all tear long, and the parks are always kept clean and green. It's a great place to raise a family.

In short, Maple Grove is a wonderful place to live if you're looking for somewhere that's quiet and safe but doesn't lack for modernity. It's far enough from downtown Minneapolis that none of the bad stuff spills over, but close enough that if you want something you can't find in Maple Grove, you can always hop a bus and travel a few minutes south. It's a win-win situation for everyone! Read Less
