California girl...for a minute, anyway. User Rating 3 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 10, 2014) I moved to Eagle Rock, California with my two dogs back in 2007. Being close to a library was my biggest priority, because I love to read. I found a house I loved on Addison Way, which was only a ten minute drive from the library. I was there for three years, and would like to s ...Read More hare my review of the area.

Attractions are limited, especially when you don't like golf (I loathe it). The only place that I found worthy of going to is the Eagle Rock Center for the arts. Even then, it all depends on what is being shown when you want to go. They do have a wide variety, but the cost can definitely add up. When my friends and family mention visiting the LA area, I tell them if they're going to play tourist, to stay away from Eagle Rock, because there isn't enough to do.

The community was one that kept to itself. It's a nice area, but the homes are definitely not cheap. It's not a community that college students or anyone with lower income would want to move into. These homes are not good candidates for starter homes, either. The neighbors kept the area clean and nice, however. The only problem I had besides the cost of living was that there were so many thefts and robberies in the community.

The best thing about Eagle Rock in my opinion is the food. No matter what you're hungry for, you can find it. The Oinkster is great for a quick hamburger, The Capri has the best pizza around, and if you're in the mood for pie, Auntie Em's is the best. There's so much to choose from, and you're not left being stuck with only McDonald's around.

The nightlife is limited, because if you want to go clubbing, you have to drive to Pasadena. If you just want to have a family fun night, however, All Stars Bowling is the place to be. The price for a game is decent, in my opinion, and if you get either hungry or want a drink, there is a bar and restaurant right inside the building.

The shopping is also limited, because most of the shops are vintage and thrift stores. However, I did find one store I loved, Read Books on Eagle Rock blvd. I often spent hours browsing through their aisles. Read Less
