First, the down side; It rains a lot in the winter, no major shopping in immediate area. Higher education opportunities are limited, small hospital with limited emergency services, and rental apartments are almost non existent. The local grocery stores carry a wide selection of items, but are priced higher due to transport costs. The up side; Beautiful breaches, Lewis and Clark historic sites, Marsh's Free Museum, the finest seafood/shellfish in the US served at excellent restaurants. Property is CHEAP! They have many assisted living facilities, and labor costs are close to 50% of the state average, so the cost construction, housekeeping, and personal services are very low. Major shopping in Astoria (just 16 miles away) with no state sales tax.
