I grew up in the Long Beach area. It was a great experience and when I got ready to graduate from high school, I decided to stay right there and go to college. Long Beach state is a great school and has everything anyone could want in a University. My parents wanted me to live in ...Read More
the dorm so I could get a taste of living outside the family home and I must say it was a lot of fun, but I soon found some friends and got an apartment.
The beach is one of my favorite places to hang out and so this beach community is perfect for the life style I like to live. My Dad has a sail boat and he has it moored right down in the Long Beach Harbor. My parents are there most weekends and like to participate in races that are held in the bay and ocean on many weekends. They also enjoy sailing out to Catalina and this delightful little island has a lot of charm and it is a good place to spend a day or even several.
I love to body surf so I spend a lot of my free time at Seal beach. It is right next to Long Beach and is really a great place to spend the day sun bathing or playing in the Pacific ocean. The water is fairly warm in the summer and cools off about the first part of September. There are plenty of life guards on the beach and it is possible to rent boogie boards and umbrellas for a reasonable rate.
The weather is great in this part of the state. LA County has so much to offer and with several major amusement parks close, it is a dream location for the kids in the family. In the winter I like to ski, so it is off to Big Bear on most weekends. It is close and an easy drive. My parents love all the cultural things in the area and often will drive into LA to enjoy dinner or a special show.
Traffic and freeways can be confusing and for the newcomer, the area can be hard to navigate. North Long Beach is my favorite part of the community and someday, I hope to open a business there. As you can see, I am a home town boy and plan to stay. This is truly a wonderful area and I am proud that I call it home.
