I lived in Salt Lake City for several years and have traveled to Layton several times during that time. This city is so beautiful with mountains all around it. It is close enough to Salt Lake City so shopping is of no problem. Hiking, bike trails, museums, and all sorts of parks ...Read More
in the city, there is always something to do. If you enjoy being outdoors, this place is for you. I think it was prettier than Salt Lake and a lot cheaper. The housing cost are much less in Layton than other parts in Utah. The nightlife is not as much as other cities because of the concentrated population of LDS members. There still are some bars available, but this is definitly not a huge club scene in this town. There are plenty of neat little restaurants around the city that can satisfy any appetite. My favorite was Fiesta Guadalajara, which I would highly recommend checking out.
Overall, Layton is a neat place to visit. If you enjoy a small town feel with a big city still nearby, this is a good option for you. Being active outside will let you enjoy the city even more, especially if you are not happy with the night life options in this town. I would recommend traveling here.

Layton is a sleepy town located in Utah. I have visited the city on several occasions, in order to do a couple of interviews for a business project I was working on.
To be honest, the city was not really my cup of tea. I have my reasons though. The majority of people in this cit ...Read More
y, and greater Utah, are in fact Mormon. This city is no exception and is actually named after a Mormon leader. I found the religiosity of people in this city to be too extreme for my liking. People are also very vocal about their political opinions in this city, which makes it frustrating for someone who may hold opposing views.
There are not many restaurants in this city. There are also not many great shopping centers in this city. I would say that the shopping is almost nonexistent in this city. At last minute, I needed to buy a nice evening dress for a dinner date I had. I was not able to find a decent dress after driving miles in this town.
