Lakewood - Peek-a-Boo, I See... Green? User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( May 07, 2010) I moved to Colorado nearly four months ago and have enjoyed exploring various cities near my house. Today I traveled to the "city" of Lakewood, which I discovered to be an unfortunate misnomer. At first glance, Lakewood is your typical metropolitan suburb. Buses zip past, bustlin ...Read More g pedestrians hurrying to destinations occupy the sidewalks, and an overall sense of unrest hangs in the air. This is merely a mask for the true heart of Lakewood - nature. To think I nearly wrote this city off as just another product of downtown overflow saddens me.

Lakewood is teeming with outdoor activities, including over 36 miles of trails catering to any walking, biking, hiking, or even horseback riding enthusiast. All ages, even furry friends, can appreciate 99 parks and open space areas to run, play, picnic, and witness breathtaking views of mountains and blue skies. There are even three reservoirs in Lakewood that visitors can enjoy. I would never have imagined that nestled in a sleepy city on the outskirts of Denver lies a plethora of adventure. I can't wait to take my family out to play in Lakewood. Read Less
