weetwater Reservoir or heading towards Homelands and Spring Valley. The prices hurt me as a traveler from the South, but what really attracted me were my biggest needs: good internet, quiet living, and GOOD FOOD.
La Presa has some of the best pollo asado, hands down. The La Presa market has it for a good price, and you can pick up some steak and tortillas on the way out if your nose takes over.
Living in La Presa has to be all about the food to me. Even the nightclubs know their way around the kitchen.
The downside is still the cost of living. I know, it's the story of California these days, but for the area the rent isn't very forgiving. Buy a house if you want some good Cali coastal access and decent proximity to San Diego.
