Visit Kent, WA for Great Scenery and a Chance to Hit the Pick 4! User Rating 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( Jul 27, 2010) Last summer I had the pleasure of visiting the city of Kent, Washington for three days. I was working on a contract project in Seattle, which is about 18 miles north of Kent. I decided to make the twenty minute drive to Kent after hearing rave reviews about the scenery. I had als ...Read More o always wanted to visit Emerald Downs Race Track, which is located in the heart of Kent.

On the first evening of my visit, I took advantage of a free outdoor concert sponsored by the city of Kent. The weather was perfect, as was my beautiful view of the mountains. After the concert, I had a late night dinner at Paolo's Restaurant. Their homemade pasta was divine and the service was excellent.

The highlight of my trip was visiting Emerald Downs on Friday evening. As a native of Kentucky, I have always been a huge horseracing fan and had always wanted to visit Emerald Downs. Emerald Downs offered a great array of betting options, my favorite of which was the Pick 4.

As illustrated by my positive review of Kent, Washington, the only thing that could have made my trip to Kent better is a winning Pick 4 ticket! Read Less

Kent is the sixth-largest city in Washington, but you'll feel like you're at home as soon as you arrive. The residents are friendly, and there are numerous activities that allow everyone to interact together. Kent is located in Seattle, but the cost of living in the city is lower than in other areas in the county and in the state. From massive mountains that rise to meet the sky to open fields and parks, the city is one that focuses a great deal on activities outdoors.

The weather in Kent is usually wetter throughout the year than it is in other states as some areas in the city see 30 inches or more of rain. In the winter months, the temperatures can be lower than average. Even with the colder temperatures, there isn't a lot of snow in Kent. However, the spring and summer are usually dry and comfortable without being overwhelmingly hot.

If you have children, you'll be pleased to know that the school system is among the best in the state. Over 30 types of schools cater to the educational needs of at least 27,000 students. Class sizes tend to be small so that teachers can focus on individual learning instead of teaching in large groups.

Living in Kent is a bit more expensive than in other areas of the state and the country. Homes that are for sale and for rent are above the national average. Transportation costs are also slightly higher than what you'll see in other parts of the country. However, utility costs tend to be average and sometimes below average due to a lack of significant swings in temperatures during the year.

King County Metro is responsible for public transportation in the city. There is a local bus for those who need to navigate the downtown area as well as a bus that connects to other cities near Kent. Artistic beauty is at the forefront of many of the attractions in Kent. From art galleries to history museums, you can spend an entire day viewing statues, paintings, and artifacts. Special programs are held at the library for children, and there are festivals held in parks for all ages that feature music, food, and crafts.
