Smaller City with A Big City Feel 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( Jul 21, 2011) I grew up in Kendale Lakes and can say the city has grown over the years. A safe residential suburb, its close proximity to the wonders of Miami allows you all the benefits of the big city with still maintaining small city charm. Housing is wonderful in Kendale Lakes with great a ...Read More partment communities, condos and lush houses. The schools are well rated and with plentiful parks, including a large soccer park, it is a great place to raise kids. The multicultural nature of Miami allows a variety of cuisines with Cuban being very popular. There are several national chain restaurants as well.

Shopping is great in the area. Several shopping centers, the newly renovated mall The Palms and close proximity to Dadeland (one of the largest malls in Miami) offers wonderful shopping, dining and some nightlife. A large movie theatre complex is very popular. The Miami beaches are not too far. One downfall of Kendale Lakes is the traffic. Rush hour can be very bad. Restaurants and the large movie theater complex can be crowded on weekends. Patience is important when moving around the area but the benefits of my hometown far outweigh any negatives. Read Less
