Island Living at its Best: Kapaa, Hawaii 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 23, 2018) Located along the coconut coast of the island of Kauai, Kapaa is island living at its best. I love living in Kapaa because it encapsulates the best of part of living in Hawaii with the convenience of residing just 15 minutes from the larger metropolitan area of Lihue. The close-k ...Read More nit community of Kapaa exemplifies the meaning of O'hana, which means family. Residents of Kapaa either commute to Lihue for the plentiful job opportunities or stay close to home working primarily in the service and tourism industries.

The best area of Kapaa is anywhere near the water. Kapaa Beach Park offers sandy shores and tranquil and clear water. Kealia Beach features miles of a paved running and biking trail hugging the coastline and leading all the way into Old Kapaa Town. This area of Kapaa boasts an eclectic mix of retail and dining options featuring the best of local artisans and flavors. Java Kai is a favorite gathering spot for locals and tourists. Read Less
