When my work transferred me to Florida, I didn't want to live in Orlando or Tampa, both regional offices for my company. I discovered Highland City almost by accident when I stopped to eat in between Orlando and Tampa off of I-4. With Lake Hancock out my living room window, living in Highland City is all about enjoying the outdoors without the congestion of the tourists.
Highland City is far enough off the interstate and right between two major cities, so we never get any real traffic in these parts. My neighborhood is quiet, we have plenty in the way of lakes in this area, and the weather is perfect most of the year.
We have some of the best restaurants all within a few miles, and the best areas in Highland City for me are definitely the shopping. We have malls and we have outdoor outlet malls too, not to mention the number of weekend flea markets surrounding our little city.
