Hawthorne, NJ is a great place to raise a family! User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( May 10, 2018) I grew up in Hawthorne, New Jersey. I moved back after college, and I bought my own home to settle down and raise my own family. Living in Hawthorne for most of my life, I can tell you it's a great place to live! The downtown shopping area has a nice variety of stores, little sho ...Read More ps, and restaurants. There are many civic groups and clubs in Hawthorne, making it easy to make new friends! The best part of Hawthorne is its community spirit. There is a parade or a town event for practically every holiday!

There is a mix of new homes, older homes, and apartments in town. Over the past several years, I have seen an influx of new people moving into the new luxury condo developments. Hawthorne keeps getting better! The location is excellent, with easy access to many of the NJ highways. It's an easy commute by bus or train to the PATH, and to downtown and midtown Manhattan.
