Haverstraw, New York: A Lovely Place to Live User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( May 28, 2018) Living in Haverstraw, Maryland has been an absolutely lovely experience. This village is close to New York City, so of course the cost of living is very high. This is still a great place to raise a family. Located next to the Hudson River, there are just so many things to do here ...Read More . Taking a walk beside the river is a great afternoon activity.

The best areas in Haverstraw, Maryland are the many places that you can hike. Being near Bear Mountain you have hiking trails for all fitness levels. It is also nice that you can take the ferry across the river and easily take the train to work.

The area is still expanding. There is a movie theater nearby, as well as a few places to eat and stores to buy the basics at. Keep in mind that you are very close to other communities that you can go to for any needs that you cannot find or pick up here in the village. A lot of larger areas are within easy commute.
