Harper Woods, MI: Mixed Neighborhood User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( May 16, 2018) Harper Woods, Michigan is located just to the west of Detroit. It is a small suburban community that is quite mixed. On the side closer to Detroit, the neighborhoods seem to be in slow decline, with homeowners having either left or are renting their homes to lower income families ...Read More . However, on the other side of Harper Woods, the neighborhoods are geared more towards the upper middle-class and the neighborhoods are safer.

Shopping, dining and nightlife in Harper Woods is decent. There are a few independent shops, restaurants and bars that line a few of the streets towards the north and west of the city. The city also provides essential chain stores for basic needs. Harper Woods is also home to the Eastland Center Mall which has many stores that will suit the needs of everyone in the family.

Overall, Harper Woods is a good place to raise a family as long as you're in the right neighborhood. It's a great place to settle in general for anyone looking to live a more aristocratic life without the expense of the city or surrounding communities like Grosse Point Woods. Read Less
