I chose to move to Ham Lake because of the yard size and the proximity of the neighbors. It's nice to have some privacy in the yard compared to being so close to neighbors. It's not unusual to get over an acre of land. The home prices are reasonable as well, but the commute to work can be brutal if I leave too late. I love having access to everything within minutes away and also being far away from the hustle and bustle of the work week.
We have a few restaurants worth mentioning including Mansetti's Pizza and Pasta. It's definitely a better pizza option than the normal commercial restaurants. We have the typical small town restaurants such as McDonald's and Dairy Queen, but I recommend traveling to Blaine or Andover for better options. We have local grocery stores but not enough shopping centers with upscale stores. Overall, Ham Lake is a great place to raise kids, relax and safe to live.
