Lived here for 20 years User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( Oct 05, 2019) Hacienda Heights is a clean quiet city and is safe at night. There are a fair number of Asians living here. You can walk to the grocery store but it’s a bit far in terms of time spent walking one way (20 min) but who walks to the grocery store? The schools are quite good.,peop ...Read More le keep to themselves mostly so no block parties. People are out walking their dogs every day. Many restaurants within 12 mile radius. The mall is so so. I only go there for the movies or occasionally one of the department stores. There is a huge Buddhist Temple close by. Can’t complain about Hacienda Heights. Read Less
Terrible place to live. User Rating 0.5 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 08, 2019) I have lived here for about 5-6 years, and within those years, I have had 2-3 families move out from the house next door because of break ins and other crimes. Within the past year alone, there has been about three cases of attempted arson near my house. One behind my back yard ( ...Read More which was not confirmed arson), and three which were confirmed; once in my front yard, once in the back, and once down the street. In addition, the mall here sucks and would literally be completely out of business if it wasn't for Round 1 and AMC, and there's literally nothing to do around here. Ever since I moved here, I've been living my life in fear and depression, so I would highly advise against moving here. If it weren't for our financial issues, we would have never came here or been out of here a long time ago. Read Less
Hacienda Heights Is a Great Place for Families User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( Mar 23, 2012) I lived in Hacienda Heights for about one year. It's a small city east of LA nestled in hills and dotted with cypress trees. Looking at it from a distance it has the appearance of a Mediterranean village. We relocated to Hacienda Heights from Denver, CO when my company transferre ...Read More d me. My daughter was in elementary school at the time and it felt like a safe and friendly place. Because the property in this area was so expensive, we rented a small house. It only had one bedroom, so my husband and I slept in the dining room.

When we moved in, it was in the hot dry summer. Our daughter befriended the neighborhood children and pretty much ran around unsupervised. She was really happy and so were we. We were rarely home during the day. My husband worked in Los Angeles and I worked in Pasadena. These cities are in close commuting distance to Hacienda Heights.

Sometimes we would grab burgers or pizza when we were too tired to cook but for the most part we ate dinner at home. With LA so convenient, we went on frequent visits to the LA Arboretum, the LA Zoo, La Brea Tar Pits and the Museum of Contemporary Art. In those days it was fun to go to the LA Garment District but I don't think that is there anymore.

Hacienda Heights is picturesque, cozy, convenient, friendly and safe. It is also smoggy and expensive. I really enjoyed living there but ultimately ended up moving out to Santa Clarita where I could afford a four bedroom home. Read Less
