After living in Raleigh for several years, I decided to move to Garner, NC. about 30 minutes outside the capital. The small town life has an appeal for me. The weather is moderate most of the year, but it can be humid in the summer. The cost of living is lower than Raleigh and the crime rate is only slightly lower. Education could use some improvement, as I am near retirement that does not affect me directly. Good shopping is available in the area, as well as being very convenient.
I enjoy cycling and love the Neuse River Trail. On good weather days, I will bike up to 10 miles. We have family picnic outings at White Deer Park Nature Center, as the grandkids like the nature center. I also enjoy doing a little fishing at Lake Benson Park and occasionally do some boating. When I want a bite out, Angie's Restaurant features good home cooking at a reasonable price. I plan on retiring here.
