There is a significant amount of lawless activity in the area, and they have expressed strong opposition to security cameras, despite there being no expectation of reasonable privacy in public spaces. This raises a significant concern, especially ...Read More given the reports of organized groups targeting specific neighbors. Law enforcement seems to prioritize de-escalation over bringing perpetrators to justice. Furthermore, they are not equipped with body cameras. Additionally, littering is prevalent along the sides of nearly every road. Given the prevalence of smoking among residents in this area, it's likely that many residences may not be fully smoke-free despite the no smoking rule. Furthermore, offenders can legally walk within a certain distance of schools. Please be mindful of children who are unsupervised in this area. Some children may engage in disruptive behavior, including peering into windows or harassing individuals. They may frequent common areas with this purpose. In some cases, parents may be aware of and encourage this behavior. Child abuse is also a potential concern in this setting.

The National White Collar Crime Center is also located in the town. The Valley Falls State Park is close to Fairmont. You might like to visit the Aerial Port Gymnastic Center. This was where Mary Lou Retton was trained. Nick Saban is also from Fairmont.

The education and housing is questionable in Fairmont, West Virginia. There is a public university called Fairmont State University. Crime, employment and the cost of living are average.
