"Spend a Day, Spend a Lifetime" in Fairmont, WV User Rating 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 16, 2018) Fairmont, WV is on the Monongahela River. Its motto is "Spend a Day ... Spend a Lifetime." The total area is 9 square miles. It is formed by the conjunction of the Tygart Valley River and West Fork River.

Early industry included glass works. Like many towns in West Virginia, the ...Read More re are coal mines underneath. The Baltimore and Ohio Railroads passed through the town. The National White Collar Crime Center is also located in the town. The Valley Falls State Park is close to Fairmont. You might like to visit the Aerial Port Gymnastic Center. This was where Mary Lou Retton was trained. Nick Saban is also from Fairmont.

The education and housing is questionable in Fairmont, West Virginia. There is a public university called Fairmont State University. Crime, employment and the cost of living are average. Muriale's Italian Kitchen, Colasessano's, Yann's Hot Dog Stand, Joe n Throw and McAteer give your family plenty of options for meals. Read Less
