Evanston, Illinois: Best of the North Shore User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( Jul 29, 2010) After calling Evanston, Illinois, home for four years, I only have good things to say about the city/township. Nestled into the North Shore and the first suburb north of Chicago, Evanston has a charm all its own and a proximity to Chicago that make it an excellent place to visit ...Read More or live. Northwestern University is the main attraction, stretching for a few square miles along the lakeshore. With high caliber theatrical and music productions at the university on a weekly basis, a memorable night out in Evanston is easy to have.

Of course, with the college crowd, there are also plenty of bars and clubs in town as well. Check out Nevin's Pub or the Celtic Knot for good food and drink. If something more upscale is your fancy, Pete Miller's Seafood and Prime Steak is not to be missed. Stick around long enough into the evening and you'll also hear some hot jazz, music which came of age in Chi-town to the south.

A classic upper-middle class midwest suburb, Evanston is a wonderful place to dip your toes in the waters of Lake Michigan, eat out at a fine restaurant, or do both! Read Less
