We visit for a week once a year, so I have never lived there and can't comment on everything. The cost of living and the price of gasoline is low. The area must be the restaurant capitol of the country. Traffic on Mesa Street can be heavy but the freeway is good. (I live in L.A. Any freeway where cars actually move is good.) Weather is hot in the summer and can get nippy and even snow in the winter but you've got your four seasons. Spring is windy and there can be duststorms. There is water rationing in that you can only water your yard for x minutes certain days of the week. Most people have gravel front yards. You get used to that.
