The city is in Effingham County. Effingham Illinois is close to Altamont Illinois. The town is centrally located at the intersection of I-57 and I-70. These are two major highways that t ...Read More ouch Chicago, Missouri, Utah, and Maryland. Effingham has both public and private schools and the city does have sufficient employment opportunity. The housing market has not been strong for a couple years now. Crime is not prevalent in the city and the city is pleasantly inexpensive. Weather conditions in Effingham are good.

Some of the best areas in Effingham Illinois surround the downtown area. There is ample dining, shopping, and nightlife in the vicinity. This is an area that tourists visit. Travelers often stay over as a resting place before continuing their road journey. There are a lot of lodging facilities to accommodate this. Another must-see site here is the 198-foot Cross Foundation. It is said to be the largest cross in the United States. The city is great, and it has bountiful roadways for traveling. Read Less
