Edmonds, Washington is located about 10 miles north of Seattle. Its downtown is located near the ocean and it has a great waterfront. The most popular restaurant on the water is Anthony's which is renowned in the area for having fantastic seafood options. There is also a large park and marina on the water as well as a beach. Additionally, The Edmonds-Kingston Ferry can take people to Whidbey Island which is about 10 miles west.
I was living in Edmonds for about four years. I think the most popular attraction is the Future of Flight Aviation Center which includes a tour by a Boeing employee. Another popular attraction is Meadowdale Beach Park which is about a 3-mile hike both ways through a gully down to a beach.
I think the best area of Edmonds is the Picnic Point area. It is a very nice neighborhood which is safe and is quiet as well. It also isn't that far to I-5 which helps because when I lived there I commuted down that freeway to Seattle.
