Edmond is a former bedroom community that has doubled its population since the mid-eighties. The population growth is strongly encouraged by government, education and service leadership because of the dependence upon sales tax revenue to fund services and infrastructure developme ...Read More
nt and to their credit, the city boasts award-winning schools and one of the lowest violent crime rates Nationwide. Edmond amenities include best-in-class locally-owned coffee houses, dining and shopping as well as the national chains. Visitors should be aware that most of the locally-owned city establishments close early during weekdays and all-day Sundays but what can't be accessed locally is easily available in nearby OKC. Recreationally Edmond offers several golf courses, a superb YMCA facility, numerous city parks, a public splash pad and water park, ice-skating rink, extensive bike trails and Arcadia Lake with 120 miles of shoreline and facilities for picnicking, camping, swimming, water skiing, boating, disc golf, along with and hiking, biking and equestrian trails. A fishing pier and a heated, covered dock is provided for year-round fishing for bluegill, channel catfish, blue catfish, and largemouth bass (Source: Arcadia Lake website).Culturally Edmond offers numerous art galleries and a world-class Jazz venue run by the University of Central Oklahoma as well as a wonderful history museum featuring a popular children's playroom.

"South", they certainly reflect southern charm and hospitality.
Golfers will absolutely love visiting Edmond. The area is gorgeous in the aspect of scenery and boasts at least 5 great golf courses. There is also Arcadia Lake nearby which is a great place for summer fun. Camping, hunting, hiking, fishing and water sports are all options afforded visitors to the Lake or the surrounding park. Unfortunately there are not many other attractions in Edmond with an indoor theme.
Plenty of overnight accommodations are found in the city of Edmond. I stayed at the Stafford Inn and found it to be affordable and comfortable. For a quiet and relaxing dinner, travelers will enjoy Boulevard Steakhouse. The food, staff and ambient atmosphere make an excellent combination. Another excellent dining venue is Cafe 501, featuring an atmosphere of retro simplicity mixed with modern elegance. Menu selections are extensive enough to meet the preferences of any palate.
