Dunkirk is about 45 miles or so southwest of Buffalo New York. The suburban area is situated on the coast of Lake Erie. Unemployment rates are higher in Dunkirk than in respective neighboring cities and there are small opportunities for housing. The town is very affordable and climate is moderate on a regular basis. The city was named after Dunkirk in France.

Some of the best areas in Dunkirk New York surround the Shorewood Country Club. The posh country club setting is immaculate. It is on the border of Lake Erie, boasting of grand panoramic views and lush greens. This is a great area for events or for fine dining. I admired the viewpoints from different parts of the city. It was great to experience the change of seasons throughout the year, especially near the scenic coastline. Read Less
