Danbury is one of Connecticut's hidden gems. Once a town and now a bustling city with plenty to do and to see. Not to mention, you can head back and forth from Grand Central from Danbury, taking approximately 1.5h. Once arriving at the Danbury train station you'll be able to stop ...Read More
into the historic Railway museum and see the Uncle Sam statue erected there, which once stood at the Danbury Fair.
Speaking of the Danbury Fair, a huge mall now stands on those grounds. There you can shop at many stores from lower to higher-end. The great foodie areas start there and spread across town to Danbury's historic Main Street. Throughout the years Danbury has been able to preserve the city's history and update to accommodate modern conveniences.
Last great stop in Danbury is Tarrywile Park & Mansion, which provides the community with excellent walking trails and untouched nature.

ry in just over an hour. My friend greeted me at the station, which is located right in downtown Danbury. Since it was in the afternoon, grabbing lunch for my hungry stomach was the first priority. We headed into his favorite restaurant, the Tuscano Bar and Grill.
After lunch, I enjoyed a walk along Main Street, as I studied carefully the historic 19th century buildings, which reminded me of those in SoHo and other classic Manhattan neighborhoods. Of course, there were plenty of boutiques and small window shops as well. Being a history buff, I had to explore local history at the Danbury Museum and Danbury Railway Museum, which are both located nearby in downtown.
What I loved about Danbury is that it has a mix of a historic and modern atmosphere. I couldn't help but notice the active presence of multiple high tech companies in the area. Tucked away behind all of this is an array of quiet and green lined residential neighborhoods, where I ended my day at my friend's house.
