Cupertino, CA Is the Ideal City for Young Families User Rating 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 24, 2012) My husband and I lived in Cupertino for five years while my husband had a job in the area. Since then, we have moved to another part of the country and miss some of the features Cupertino has to offer. The city has some of the best schools in the state and a low crime rate. The neighborhoods are set up nice with plenty of areas for children to play. I always felt safe letting my kids go outside with their friends.

Cupertino has a small-town quietness about it that makes the city appealing for young families. There is not much nightlife or adult party locations, which might be boring or unappealing to young singles. The up-side is the Flint Theater and cultural options available for the whole family. Cupertino has a large number of shopping and restaurant options so you don't have to travel to larger cities for these options. This includes some ethnic places that are sometimes difficult to visit in larger cities. The bigger cities of San Jose and San Francisco are a convenient drive and offer additional entertainment and activity options. It is easy to get on the highway and roadway systems that lead to Cupertino, which was helpful when driving the kids to their activities or getting out of town for a road trip.

An area of concern is the traffic on the streets surrounding the schools. It can get congested and dangerous with the mass of people going to work and dropping off children. With a large corporation like Apple employing many people in the city, the traffic during the prime before and after school times can get to be too much. This can be overcome when you use caution and make sure your kids are dropped off in a safe location at the schools. Read Less
