Culpepper is The Doorway Between Urban DC Life and The Shenandoah Lifestyle 2.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 16, 2018) Looking back at my years living in Culpepper, VA, one of the things I realize is that everyone characterizes it wrong. Those in the urban DC environment view it as much more rural than the lifestyle there is. Those that live in the Shenandoah Valley seem to have a view of Culpepp ...Read More er, VA as much more urban than it is.

Culpepper is mostly populated by families that have at least one parent that works in the greater Washington, DC area and are looking to escape that corporate environment when they arrive home. Residential lots are larger than as you get closer to the DC Beltway. Costs of living are as well, as residents can still find small independent stores and restaurants in the area.

While living there, I found that it didn't necessarily feel like a "community" and more like families living next to each other. There are not a lot of community organizations or activities. Volunteering at school might offer social opportunities. Read Less
